This course has been designed for those wanting to carry out electrical work, including the installation of EV charging points. It is aimed at those with little or no experience, who want to get qualified and start working as a domestic electrician as soon as the training is complete. The course is also ideal for anyone looking to become employed as an EV charge point installer.

Course Overview

The first 15 days of this course are the same as our Domestic Electrician Course, after which you will complete our online Electric Vehicle Charging Course. This course will give you the qualifications and knowledge needed to become a Domestic Electrician and an EV charge point installer.

Key Stage Electrician Course – (Duration 5 Days)

This introductory course has been uniquely designed to teach you the skills and knowledge needed to complete our Domestic Electrician EV Charging Package. It has been developed to combine practical and theory work, including circuit design, installation and other key elements needed when working as a Domestic Electrician.

Part P Course City & Guilds 2393 – (Duration 2 Days)

This is course will allow you to develop your knowledge and understanding of Part P of the Building Regulations. These regulations have been in place since 1st January 2005 and are specific to the electrical safety dos and don’ts in domestic dwellings.

18th Edition Wiring Regulations 2018 City & Guilds 2382 – (Duration 3 Days)

This course has been developed to give you the knowledge and understanding of the current wiring regulations, an absolute must for anyone looking to carry out electrical work. Upon successful completion of this qualification you will have the necessary knowledge to ensure that your electrical work is compliant.

Inspection and Testing City & Guilds 2392 – (Duration 5 Days)

This course will teach you how to test and inspect newly installed or altered circuits. You will be taught how to carry our dead tests as well as live, and how to complete all the necessary paperwork (Schedule of Test Results) that is required to be left with the consumer unit as per Part P of the Building Regulations.

Electric Vehicle Charging Course EAL 603/3929/9 – (Online)

Developed to work with IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation, this course will teach you the required knowledge to safely install EV charging points. This qualification is part of the requirements needed to join the government’s OZEV scheme. This is the equivalent qualification to the City & Guilds 2919-01, and provided by the awarding body, EAL. Course Duration

This package contains 5 separate courses, involving 15 days at our training centre, followed by an online learning course. The core course times are Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Please take a look at our course FAQ’S for further course information.

The exams

During this course you will take 3 multiple choice on-line exams and one practical assessment. They are as follows:

Part P Course – 1 exam

Online multiple choice exam consisting of 20 questions which you have 40 minutes to complete. (Open book exam)

18th edition course – 1 exam

Online multiple choice exam consisting of 60 questions which you have 2 hours to complete. (Open book exam)

Inspection and testing course – 2 exams

1. Online multiple choice exam consisting of 50 questions which you have 1 Hour and 40 minutes to complete.

2. A practical assessment where you will have to demonstrate that you know how to safely isolate a consumer unit, perform all the live and dead tests and fill in all the necessary paperwork to comply with Part P of the Building Regulations. You will have 2 Hours to complete this assessment.

Electric Vehicle Charging Course – 1 exam

Online multiple choice exam, taken in centre, consisting of 25 questions which you have 50 minutes to complete. (Open book exam)

Entry Requirements

There are no qualification entry requirements, however you will need to be 18 or over to attend this electrical training course.

  • What electrical work can I do after this course?

    This course will allow you to carry out domestic electrical work, including the installation of EV charging points after successful completion of the course. You will be able to carry out any form of minor works such as adding to or altering an existing circuit. You will also be suitably qualified to carry out what is called notifiable work which can include the installation of a new circuit, a re-wire or work in a bathroom. The difference with notifiable work is that building control have to be informed.

  • Can I split the course up?

    Yes, you can. Each of the course modules can be booked as a standalone course using the drop down menu at the top of the page. We would suggest keeping the courses in the order you find them in Domestic Electrician EV Charging Package.

  • Can I make the payment in instalments?

    If you wanted to break the payments up into more manageable chunks, consider our pay as you train option. Pay a deposit of £800 to secure your chosen course dates, then simply pay the balance for each individual course 3 weeks before the course start dates.     OZEV (Office of Zero Emission Vehicles) is the part of the government that is responsible for promoting the uptake of electric vehicles. OZEV was previously known as OLEV (Office of Low Emission Vehicles).

  • What is the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme grant?
