Domestic Electrician Top Up Course now available to book!

In September 2021, the Competent Person Schemes changed their entry requirements in line with the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification updates. This now means that in order to join a Competent Persons Scheme, such a NICIEC or NAPIT, you must have your 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification, a Level 3 Initial Verification qualification, a craft qualification such as a Level 3 NVQ or Qualified Supervisor qualification, and a minimum of 24 months’ experience.

The craft qualification is a new requirement and we have developed a solution to help you gain this!

Domestic Electrician Top Up Course

The Domestic Electrician Top Up Course has been designed for anyone that has previously completed our Domestic Electrician Package. Do not worry if you have not completed our Domestic Electrician Package, please call us and we can work out the best route for you.

We have created the course to help you gain the craft qualification needed to join a scheme, whilst building on your initial training and experience gained. As you will have already completed a series of training with us, we have designed this course to ‘top up’ your previous training so you are not having to repeat elements you have previously studied. The course will introduce new topics as well as developing previously covered content.

The full qualification title is EAL Level 3 Certificate in Installing, Testing and Ensuring Compliance of Electrical Installations in Dwellings (600/7695/1EO). This qualification is recognised by Ofqual and accepted by the Competent Persons Schemes.

The course has been developed as an online course so you can fit it around your work and other commitments. You will not be required to attend the centre for any part of this course. Upon enrolling onto the course you will be sent the online learning content which you must work your way through, at your own pace. You will also be sent an evidence portfolio which you must complete using examples of work you have completed. They can be new pieces of work, or work you have done previously and the evidence can range from photographs, to reflective statements to copies of your paperwork.

Once you have completed your online course content, and finished your evidence portfolio you will be able to book yourself in for a professional discussion with one of our assessors. This professional discussion will take place on an online platform, again giving you the flexibility to fit it around your commitments by not having to travel into the training centre. The assessor will give you a list of possible topics that may be discussed in your professional discussion prior to the meeting. During the meeting your assessor will ask you questions relating to your online learning and the evidence you have collected for each module. You will be encouraged to ask questions about the topics being discussed also.

Upon successful completion of the professional discussion, you will gain your Qualified Supervisor qualification!
