Frequently Asked Questions
After I have paid what happens next?
Once you have paid your place will be secure for your chosen course start date. We will then send out a booking confirmation email with all the details you need to know or we can send out by post if requested.
If I want to buy the course literature when do I pay?
This payment will be taken in full with either your deposit or full course payment.
If I select an accommodation package when do I pay?
You will need to pay for your accommodation when paying your deposit or full payment for your chosen course start date. As we have to pay this in advance to our accommodation partners this will not be refundable.
If I am splitting my package courses up do I have to pay in full?
Absolutely not! We recognise that not everyone is able to commit to 3 or 4 weeks continuous training for a variety of reasons and it would be unrealistic to take full payment under these circumstances. We have developed a fair way to accommodate course splitting by introducing a pay as you train policy. In essence only pay for the training you are currently undertaking and no more.
How can I pay for my training course?
We are able to accept credit /debit cards and bank transfers via BACS and Chaps.
What are the exam pass rates?
At Electrician Courses 4U we are very proud of our excellent pass rates which are currently on average 90% +.
Why do you not post the books out?
In our experience looking at the content of books before attending the courses can make you feel a little nervous and in certain circumstances question your ability to attend. We can assure you that you will be at no disadvantage by not looking at the books before hand.
What books are needed and how do I order them?
We are able to offer the course books at extremely competitive prices and they can be purchased by either adding them to your shopping cart when ordering on-line or with our sales team when booking over the telephone. Your books will be given to you on the first day of your course.
I do not live close to your training centre – What are my accommodation options?
With all our courses we offer accommodation packages which can be selected when booking with us. We will arrange all of your accommodation on your behalf and will send you all your booking references and make the whole process as easy as possible for you.
Do I have to do all my training consecutively or can I split the courses if I need to?
We fully appreciate that not everyone is able to attend for 15 or even 20 days in succession due to their work and holiday schedules or financial commitments. Both our domestic electrician course and domestic electrician package can be booked in 5 day (weekly) blocks and spread over however many months your need.
Are there any extra costs?
Our listed prices include VAT and any exam costs where applicable. The only extra costs required thereafter would be for the qualification course books.
How do I book a course?
Once you have selected the course/s you wish to book you have 2 options available to you:
1. Use the online booking facility, which will safely take you to payment authorisation.
2. If you prefer the human factor just give us a call and we will process the booking for you.
Can I get additional time for the exams if I have dyslexia or learning difficulties?
Provided you have an educational statement no more than 12 years old you can be considered for additional time to take your exams. We will require a copy of your educational statement 30 days before your course starts in order to apply for extra time.
Will I get any homework to do on the courses?
Yes you will but it will depend on which particular courses you are taking. A rough guide is half an hour up to a maximum of 2 hours per night.

Am I able to come in late or leave my course early if I have an appointment?
If you leave early or arrive late you will certainly miss some parts as the courses run to a schedule. Your training instructors will do their best where possible to help you to catch up.
Why are some Part P Courses over 5 days, but yours is only over 2 days?
We understand that some Training Centres still offer the City and Guilds 2393 over 5 days – this enables them to charge you, the customer, additional money for obtaining the same qualification we can provide you with over 2 days.
How much does it cost to retake my exam if I fail?
To re-sit a City & Guilds or EAL on-line exam in centre it will cost £45.00 or a remote invigilation exam will cost £75.00 and a practical assessment re-take will cost £60.00.
What are the exam pass rates?

When will I get my qualification certificates?
If you complete a single, online course with us, you will receive a digital certificate only, within 3 working days of passing the exam. For in centre courses, you will receive your hard copy certificates 2-3 weeks after completing your course. If your course contains multiple qualifications within it, you will receive all of your certificates 2-3 weeks after completion of the final qualification.
When will I get my exam results?
We can let you know on the day if you have passed your exams and assessments.
Will my qualifications be recognised?
Yes all are industry recognised qualifications for which you will receive a Certificate.
Will I receive a qualification?
Yes all of our City & Guilds and EAL courses will lead to a qualification.
What should I bring with me?
We would recommend you bring the following:
Calculator with square root facility, A4 pad, pens, pencils, pack of mixed colour highlighter pens, page divider/index tabs e.g. 3M post-its 4 colours x 35 tabs per colour size; 11.9mm x 43.1mm – used to mark up and section books..

Monday to Friday starting at 9.00 A.M. and finishing at 4.30 P.M, however this can vary.

Do I need any previous experience?
Our domestic electrician courses were designed especially for people with no previous experience. You will however need some previous experience to attend some of our City & Guilds and EAL qualification courses. Please take a look at our recommendations and entry requirements on all course pages where applicable.

What do I do for lunch and snacks?
There is a really good café close by and various snack wagons call round regularly.
Can I park at the training centre?
Yes we have plenty of free car parking spaces available right outside the training centre.
Can I come along and have a look at your training facilities?
Please do! We are always very happy to give tours of our facilities. Please just phone ahead to arrange a suitable day and time to come in. If it is not convenient or practical for you to visit us why not have a look at our virtual tour in 60 seconds?

To secure your place immediately a deposit can be paid and the balance will then be payable 14 days before your course start date. If the course date you select is less than 14 days away you will need to pay the full amount for your course.
