Andy Watson, Southampton
Andy has a background in energy research, and decided to build on his knowledge and skills by taking the Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification (2392) course, which would help him to move into solar panel installation. Andy searched for suitable courses between Oxford and the South Coast, and spoke to three different companies, gauging what they could offer him. He eventually spoke to Nigel Best at EC4U and was very impressed with what he had to say. They had a frank and honest discussion about what the various courses entailed, how the prices were kept competitive, and how the facilities and team at EC4U could benefit Andy’s personal requirements.
The discussion made Andy’s decision an easy one, and he signed up for the course. As soon as he started, he was again impressed with the modern, well organised facilities, from the individual working boards for practicing small wiring jobs, to the larger simulations of consumer units for testing your newly acquired skills.
Andy found his tutor, Keane, to be very easy to get along with. He was patient, experienced, and had a knack for getting inside the head of his students and understanding why they were asking a particular question. Keane took Andy through all the Level 2 safety, inspection and testing procedures, as well as the paperwork and certification. By the end of the course Andy felt as though he had an excellent grip on the topics covered, and made good use of the Experience Week by putting his practical skills to the test under his tutor’s supervision.
Andy is now working towards accreditation with a competent persons scheme, and is hoping to return to EC4U in the future to complete a Level 3 Certificate. He would recommend EC4U to anyone who is looking for a professional and well-run company to help them move forward with their career.
