Alex Bott, Essex
Alex worked as a plasterer in London and Essex for ten years, but recently decided to head in a new direction as on-site jobs began to dry up. He wanted to remain in a hands-on profession and decided to check out electrician training. He researched a few courses in his local area but found that they were either too expensive or didn’t have quite the right atmosphere. It was then that he went to look around the EC4U buildings and was immediately drawn to the brand new facilities – and the friendly welcome. Nigel Best, Managing Director of EC4U, had a relaxed chat with Alex and said he was free to look around with no pressure, and that he could talk to anyone in order to get a good feel for what was on offer. Alex liked what he saw and signed up for the full course. The tutors he had were friendly and easy-going, and helped Alex through the tricky part p course, including the building regulations, safety legislation, circuit calculations and other critically important electrician knowledge. Having had little experience with computers, Alex was initially nervous about the online exams, but the tutors reassured him that his knowledge was sound, and they helped him quickly get to grips with everything he needed to know. The unlimited supply of teas and coffees were also a great help with the brain-busting studies! Now Alex is awaiting certification from NAPIT, and is looking to work alongside an electrician to gain some experience before heading out on his own. He’s delighted with the new skill set he has acquired and is now much more confident about the future. He’s keen to recommend EC4U to anybody who wants to give their career a kick start.
