Case Study: Mike
Moving into a new career can be daunting, but with the right guidance and training, you can maximise on the benefits that a career in the skilled trades can offer you.
Before starting his electrical training, Mike was making computer hardware, but when the company shut down, he decided to step into a new career.
“I’ve always been quite interested in figuring out how things work, always loved taking things apart, putting them back together and seeing the whole process.”
When choosing a training centre, Mike looked at a few local training centre facilties, “I visited EC4U and another training centre, but EC4U just seemed a lot more professional. I spoke to the trainers and they were really informative. They helped me get a grasp on what I’d be up to on the course and how to prepare for it.”
Before making an investment in a training course, Mike said “I would definitely recommend people to visit any training centre first.”
Mike’s favourite part of the course was the Experience Course, an entirely practical week which takes place in our realistic, mock flats. “The pressure is off in that week, there’s no more assessments and you’ve got free reign – it’s the fun week! You get your hands on all the tools and it’s a chance for you to figure everything out!”
“The trainers are really, really great; any question, they can answer it. No problems working with them, they’re really knowledgeable and they know everything you need to know.”
After finishing the course, Mike plans on working alongside another electrician, to gain some on site experience. “I would definitely recommend EC4U because it fulfils its promise; It’s a really good all round course. I’ve really enjoyed it!”
EC4U would like to wish Mike the best of luck in his new career!
