Who is this course for?
This Level 2 Inspection & Testing course will teach you how to test, inspect and verify newly installed or altered circuits. The course is a combination of in centre weekend training and online, at home learning. It is designed for those that are new to the electrical industry or existing contractors who wish to add this qualification to their skill set.
When booking our Level 2 Inspection & Testing Weekend Course, you will have the option of paying for the course in full (£605 inc. VAT) or reserving your space by paying a deposit (£210 inc. VAT).

Course Overview
Level 2 Inspection and Testing Weekend Course
During this City & Guilds 2392-10 Inspection & Testing course we will show you how to inspect, test and verify any new or altered electrical circuits, beginning with dead tests to check it is safe to turn the power back on, and then live tests to check that the circuits are safe and meet the most recent 18th Edition wiring regulations..
You will also be taught how to complete the required paperwork that needs to be left with the consumer unit in order to comply with Part P of the Building Regulations.
Our Level 2 Inspection & Testing Weekend Course includes the following:
- General Requirements
Safety, Required competence, Certificate and Reports.
- Initial Verification
Purpose, Certificates, scope, Initial inspection, Initial testing, Electrical installation certificate, sequence of tests.
- Test Instruments
Accuracy, Low resistance ohmmeters, Insulation resistance ohmmeters, Earth fault loop impedance testers, Earth electrode resistance testers and Residual current device testers.
- Forms
Initial inspection and testing/ Minor works and Model forms for certification and reporting.
Course Duration
This course consists of 4 days in centre with approximately 2 days of online learning.
The in centre training can be booked as 4 consecutive weekends or split up over a longer period of time. Upon booking the course you will be sent a booking link to choose your course dates. The Saturday course times are 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM for our in centre training, and Sunday course times are 10:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
The online learning element of the course can be completed in your own time, at your own pace.
Qualifications
- City & Guilds 2392-10 Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification
The exams
At the end of your City and Guilds 2392-10 course you will have 2 exams to take:
1. Online multiple choice exam consisting of 50 questions which you have 1 Hour and 40 minutes to complete.
2. A practical assessment where you will have to demonstrate that you know how to safely isolate a consumer unit, perform all the live and dead tests and fill in all the necessary paperwork to comply with Part P of the Building Regulations. You will have 2 Hours to complete this assessment.
The online exam will be sat using City & Guilds remote invigilation service, meaning you can sit the exam at home when you are ready. Click here for more information about remote invigilation, or watch a video here.
Please note the exam times are typically 08.30, 11.30 and 16.30 and City and Guilds require 5 working days notice in order to schedule the exam and arrange the invigilator. Please note Mac OS, Chrome OS and iOS devices are not supported.

The following publications are to be purchased by all customers wishing to take part on the Level 2 Inspection & Testing Weekend Course. These books are ONLY for sale to customers who have booked a course with us. Books will not be posted out and will be available on the first day of your course.
Entry Requirements
There are no qualification entry requirements, however you will need to be 18 or over to attend this electrical training course. We would strongly recommend that if you are new to the industry that you initially attend our Key Stage Weekend Electrical Course.
